You gotta be 18 to play now…where are all the little ravers going to go now? In my opinion, this is a good thing. The young ravers can go to the more underground/warehouse events where there isn’t so much attention brought onto the scene. Insomniac and these massive are definitely being watched more closely by the authorities. I always felt that raves needed to somehow evolve like the rest of the world…kids in the US just love to binge–not a good thing to binge hard drugs.

Introduces 18 and Older Policy Nationwide

LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2010 – Insomniac Events has hired Investigative Advisory Group (IAG), a consulting firm that has experience creating overall safety and security protocols for large venues, to analyze Insomniac’s current and proposed safety protocols and procedures for the company’s music festivals throughout the United States. These safety protocols will create new standard operating procedures adapted to the new challenges involved in music festivals, including Electric Daisy Carnival. These recommendations will further augment guest safety by building on Insomniac’s existing protocols, which include extensive advance planning with local governments and public safety authorities, including fire and police departments.

Effective immediately, Insomniac has also established an “18 and older” policy for all of the company’s dance music festivals until such time as Insomniac implements IAG’s recommended standard operating procedures. Insomniac has purchased handheld ID scanners, which will be used at all future “18 and older” Insomniac events. Insomniac will refund the full ticket price to anyone under the age of 18 who has already purchased tickets to upcoming Insomniac dance music festivals. Ticketholders under the age of 18 can send an email to refunds@insomniac.com detailing their name, phone number and the name of the event and outlet where they bought the ticket (e.g. Ticketmaster, GrooveTickets, or retail store).

It’s been a pretty hot hasn’t it friends?  So far two raves have been canceled, but I don’t think this trend will continue.  Let’s hope this period where scrutiny is at a high, the electronic promoters will step up their security and event planning to prevent any future disasters.

In order to have successful events, these promoters must learn NOT to oversell tickets and have more appropriate security/planning at these events.

In any case let’s hope Audiotistic this coming Saturday on July 24th presented by Insomniac will be a good one without any major hiccups. After what has happened at EDC, the cancellation of HARD LA and Fresh Squeezed, they need to be particularly careful.

Thanks to the continued support of City of Los Angeles, LAPD, LAFD, and California State Parks HARD SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL at the Los Angeles State Historic Park on August 7th 2010 featuring Soulwax, Crystal Castles, Major Lazer, Erol Alkan, Diplo, Digitalism and more will continue as scheduled.
 
Tickets for HARD LA M.I.A. are automatically valid for the HARD SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL. HARD will offer refund instructions July 13th via HARDFEST.com

Official Statement from Fresh Entertainment

Obviously everyone has read the newspaper articles online regarding Fresh Squeezed and its cancellation, and hopefully saw the segment on KTLA News tonight at 10pm.

It is heart breaking to see how the events of the past 2 weeks have unfolded and effected Fresh Entertainment and our party goers alike in the EDM scene. It is a shame that these events are viewed as No holds barred drug frenzies when that is so far from the truth and there is much more to these events that the media has refused to take the time to even notice. For now it seems that the media will continue to portray your scene in this manner. Even with all this continuous negative attention, we will still strive to offer you world class talent, amazing production and loving vibes that you have come to expect from fresh Ent.

We sincerely apologize for this entire situation, but please understand we have done everything in our power to give you a great event. We never gave up and have looked near and far for suitable venues to accommodate us after pico Rivera breached their contract.

Since we have yet to find a reasonable venue to accommodate ALL of our lovely fans we have been forced to officially cancel this event.

However, we do have GOOD NEWS
ALL of our talent is currently in town, they have agreed to perform for our current ticket holders tomorrow night at the

ASU Fox theatre in San Bernardino.

Coachella 2010 is over and it’s on the the next one.

I know this is a late review, but I’d like to share what went down at Coachella.

It was the first year that they sold only 3 day passes and with no more sales of single day tickets. According to Paul Tollett, Goldenvoice’s buyer for Coachella, he wanted to take the training wheels off and establish themselves as a major festival just like the others around the world. Also, he just signed a contract with the venue (empire polo fields) for a ten year extension–with a monetary injection to improve road conditions and traffic flow! That’s good news for future Coachella attendees because that was a MAJOR issue in the years past.

Driving from LA to INDIO did not take that long considering there was peak traffic on a Friday evening, but the line to get in Coachella was insane. I probably waiting 2+ hours to get in the grounds and had to pull some hustle moves to find parking; a lot of my friends did not even make it inside because they closed the on site parking around 10pm? due to the lots being full.

When I got inside the grounds, I realized the place was PACKED. The beer gardens were flowing with people and there were thousands of people laying on the ground because they were tired from the events of the day. It was around 10:30PM so I wanted to check out Jay Z for a bit and then run over the Sahara tent to catch Deadmau5. Ten minutes before Jay came on, they had a countdown timer on the double screens which only added to the crowd’s excitement and anticipation. When the timer ran out, Jay Z had risen from under the stage and the crowd went nuts. I only stayed for a few songs because the crowd was getting a little too pushy, but left when Jay played “On to the Next One” and the screens went black and white just like the music video.

Then after, I rushed my ass to see Deadmau5 because I wanted to see him headline the Sahara Tent. I don’t regret my decision even though Beyonce came out at the end of Jay’s performance to do “Forever Young,” it’s cool, I like the album version with Alphaville better.

Deadmau5’s set was pretty tight, but the highlights were definitely the visuals. He definitely has the TOP OF THE LINE shit in terms of LED lights and with his mask…I have no idea how he can see with that mask on! Additionally, he should never take off his mask because he looks like a strange creature without it off…

To everyone, this video looks a lot better than watching his performance in person because it looks like his LED stage is floating and you can’t see the actual stage when the lights are not lit.

Also, if you had any question how dope Danny Devito is? Let’s not forget him owning some awesome restaurants in Miami, acting with California’s Governor as his twin, or even being in Batman. But peep this video! I bet Deadmau5 must be extremely happy he got to be on TMZ cause, honestly, he’s a bit of a douche and douches love being on TMZ.

Hate to admit this, but TIESTO fucking rocked Coachella…. I have never seen such a large audience of people dance before. He’s pretty much the only DJ to ever close out Coachella in the mainstage. He played the right tracks even though it was all of his own productions. Damn, he even dropped adagio for strings, lol. All in all, he’s probably the worst MC out there, if you check out some other video at at Coachella when he’s speaking on the mic, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

Canadian superstar Deadmau5 took things to the next level during his New Year’s Eve Ministry of Sound set at the O2 Arena in London.

It is believed to be the first time that any DJ or dance music artist, who are not generally known for their on-stage presence, has done such a thing.

Joel Zimmerman has of course, never been one to shy away from showmanship. The huge mouse head he dons at every gig has become his trademark, for a character that few will dispute has brightened dance music in recent years.

The next level? He looks like a retard dangling up there in a very cheap Halloween costume. Not trying to hate though, I kinda dig his choons.

Speaking of choons and all that good shit, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival just announced their lineup for April 16th-18th this year.

It looks like the likes of Tiesto , David Guetta, and the aforementioned Deadmau5 will be rocking the Sahara aka Dance tent this year. I believe this is to Tiesto’s second time performing .  The first time he performed, he was on the mainstage right before the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
