After Saturday night’s performance – I think it’s pretty clear which of the Swedish House Mafia members puts on the best show as an individual. Axwell definitely put in work and was mashing up to three tracks at one time.
On Thanksgiving weekend Insomniac put on a COMPLETELY sold out show featuring AXWELL of SHM with uber-talented and on the rise duo SUNNERY JAMES & RYAN MARCIANO. One of the best shows of the year – plus, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much steam, confetti and streamers used in one show in my entire life. Insomniac really wanted to make this show special.
It was one of those rare shows that everyone was dancing for the entire night. Let’s start out with the special talent hailing all the way from the Netherlands. To be perfectly honest, the moment we heard that these guys were the special guests was the deciding factor to cover the show. They bring a special sound of tribal rhythm / minimal progressive house that is refreshing among the sea of big room house currently playing the EDM scene. It’s actually perfect that these SJ & RM were slotted to perform with Axwell because they were deemed the Dutch House Mafia by Axwell & Ingrosso themselves.
DIRTYCHOONS has been following the pair since we heard thier track ‘Tribeca’ which was released on Subliminal records. You can see the official music video of that track which was recording during UMF this year.
Highlight of the night was when SJ & RM dropped King Of My Castle by Yanou (Sander Van Doorn Remix) because it’s a CLASSIC and it’s one of the few choons I have on vinyl. Their energy on stage was was infectious and by the time their set ended – the place was packed to the brim – which you’ll see below. Don’t sleep on these guys as you’ll see them headlining in the very near future.
