Happy Halloween kids. Hope everyone is getting their candy fix in and dressing inappropriately.
DIRTYCHOONS was able to check out Insomniac’s Escape From Wonderland which they brought back from the dead. There was some heavy competition going around this year with HARD’s Haunted Mansion and Go Ventures’ Monster Massive which has been a Halloween staple for years. However, with the cancellation of Monster Massive that was suppose to be an Armin Van Buuren Only experience – there were pretty much two options to choose from.
From what we noticed, Escape From Wonderland was incredibly packed and it’s pretty clear the cancellation of Monster Massive considerably helped out. Escape actually sold out pretty early on and scalpers were selling tickets up to $200+ on craigslist (who buy tickets that inflated…). Luckily for those who were not able to get their hands on tickets in time, Insomniac released 1,000 tickets a few days before the event.
The mainstage this year was the Slaughter House and featured pretty much only DJs on Steve Angello’s SIZE MATTERS label – with a few exceptions like Benny Benassi. Insomniac packed the house with semi-nude fire eaters, carnival rides, haunted houses and mazes. Clear favorites at this event were Afrojack and surprisingly ATB. We all know Afrojack brings the party but after seeing ATB’s set at EDC year year where he dropped ’til i come’ about 4 times, we didn’t think he’d redeem himself. BUT I arrived at the venue pretty much near the middle of his set and noticed his stage was completely backed to the back. Figure he must have stepped his game up this time around. AN21 & Max Vangeli rocked a pretty massive set as well.
