Made a trip out to Sin City this weekend to check out Marquee and lucky for me they had booked two DJs on Saturday night. Saturday night started off with actually flash thunderstorms and rain which I thought was going to make the night a complete disaster because most of the clubs such as XS/Surrender/Marquee are mostly outdoors. Luckily, it was bizarrely short-lived and it was onward to Marquee.
First up was KRYDER’s debut North American performance from the UK. I actually got a chance to meet this fellow after his set and found out he recently opened up for Tiesto in Ibiza at Club Privilege last month. I actually had no idea that he produced K2 which I have heard in so many recent DJ sets such as Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Swedish House Mafia, etc…

Soon to find out that the track was released to Tiesto’s label Musical Freedom. Glad I got to meet with KRYDER as he revealed some of his upcoming projects & also some UK slang (a ‘bird’ usually means girlfriend and if you ‘f*cked that set up’ then that’s a good thing). Be on the lookout for this UK artist in the future!

Now on to ARTY. Artem Stolyarov,a 21 year old Russian DJ, KILLED it and is coming off a recent performance at Electric Zoo. When I first heard about this DJ it of his remix of Ferry Corsten’s classic ‘Punk’ and he brought the life back into that song. He also recently released a new track ‘Around The World’ which is getting some heavy heavy rotation – a direction away from his trance roots but definitely a big house choon!
This kid is young had knows how to keep the energy in the club even at 4AM. We’ll have to wait and see what sort of production style in the future he’ll release in the future but I’m sure they’re going going to be on the charts. If you’re going to Insomniac’s Nocturnal be sure to check him out as he’ll be playing Friday right before Gareth Emery.
