Fellow EDMLs(electronic dance music lovers),
There is a pretty effin sweet contest right now presented by Beatport and Mix In Key. Grand prizes are bad ass and the guest judging of your mix is even better.
Top 20 mixes will be selected by the Mix In Key Team and the top 5 of that will be picked by the guest judges/DJ.
For those of you who don’t know what Mixed in Key is, it’s a software that allows you to mix harmonically. It displays the songs in your library with the appropriate note so it allows you to see what songs would clash.
The best prize is a pimp laptop from Lenovo but also an article/interview on the winner the winner( mad fame yo ).
- Anyways, anyone can enter in this contest as long as its 100% harmonically mixed,

- All songs in the mix HAS to be in one genre
- Hip hop acapella in minimal techno = Disqualifications (taken from the website)
Judging criteria: The mix must inspire listeners to become fans of that music genre, take the listener on a journey, and showcase innovation in harmonic mixing
So I implore all you guys to participate, but be wary there will be hella mofos entering this bitch. But I’m sure most of you guys make mixes anyways, so submit that shit but do it harmonically!

The challenge: Showcase your favorite music genre in a 10-15 minute mix that will impress our judges which includes some of the world’s best DJs. The top winner will receive prizes worth over $3000 USD.
The top winner will receive:

- Brand-new Native Instruments Komplete 6 bundle – announced on September 1

Indeed, did you see the criterion?
They want a mix that inspires others to like that genre, so drum&bass is definitely more of an acquired taste compared to lets say..house. I think that’s def your best bet since i’d say atleast 50% of people submitting are going to do house/trance.

edit: I guess paul oakenfold is another judge for this competition, so he might like it if you do a quickstop every now and then since he’s notorious for his trainwrecks…j/k j/k
