The annual Hard Haunted Mansion line up is released and back at the Shrine in Los Angeles.
The event will be on October 30th and the 31st, which is in direct competition with long running 12th annual event Monster Massive (also on Halloween) which is put on by GoVentures(same people as EDC).
AND ALSO, the events will be RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. The traffic and parking is going to be ridiculous that day.
AND they made it two day? There is definitely a trend now with raves/festivals that are two days–following Electric Daisy Carnival’s newly produced two day festival pulling over 90,000 in that frame.
There could be many reasons why the people at Hard could be doing this two day instead of one.
- By having two days you can draw in a lot more money.
- Because of the last debacle with Hard Summer 2009, they want to make this an epic event. (link to the disaster here when it was at The Forum)
However, I probably will not make an appearance to HARD even though I did the year past because I have yet to receive my reimbursements from Hard Summer.
Or maybe because Armin Van Buuren & Sasha will be at Monster! And I’m THRILLED they didn’t get Paul Van Snoring this year.
Also, I feel that HARD should have really done something worthwhile to make it up to the fans at the last event, because it was a shitty ass night for everyone. Making it a two day event with similar non-stellar(besides Basement Jaxx) acts won’t do much Justice.
Here’s the flyer. And for all you ravers on 31st, be careful because there are going to be a shitload of cops that day.
Thoughts?

If I were to make a generalized statement, and I will, Hard Haunted Mansion offers music for the hipster/high school kid/ the person that just caught onto EDM since it has been infused into pop-music. However, it does have some artists on its line up that have yet to rack up those frequent flyer miles, its good to see an act before it reaches Tiesto statues. Not to mention that Zombie Nation will be spinning I wonder what version of Kernkraft 400 he will spin, I’m sure he’ll drop “Radio Controlled” which is his latest hit and climbed into the top of the charts on Beatport not too long ago.
Monster Massive caters to the better educated EDM fan with the opportunity to take in some great progressive beats (Sasha), trance choons from the #1 DJ in the world (Armin Van Buuren), some bass pounding house from an LA legend (Reza) and an Argentinian rocking clubs around the world (Hernan Cattaneo) amongst others.
Not only are the genres different but so are the venues. The Shrine is much smaller then the LA Sports Arena. With the Shrine expect to pay a lot since one would most likely be parking at USC. The same could be said for the Sports Arena since parking for events there is always high, there’s no way of getting around paying for parking that night. Perhaps the reason that Haunted Mansion is a two night event is to avoid fire code violations aka the tragedies of the debacle known as Hardfest.
One has to wonder who will win out this night? Does Southern California have enough people for two massives on the same night and on Halloween, especially in this economy.
monster massive is a go ventures party not by the insomniac
monster always has great production value and not to say really
good sound quality and the good vibes plus people from all over the
america and the world that go
I don’t see anywhere mentioned that monster massive is produced by Insomniac…
I agree with you that Monster definitely puts on a good show, but you have to watch out where you stand/hangout in the sports arena because there is a chance your ears will be ringing for a week afterwards.
41 more days til Halloween.
i went to hard last year i’m not down for the tweaking scene kids
correction…..
EDC is an Insomniac event.
Thanks for the correction! I don’t know where my mind was!!
umm shitty shrine or sports arena
they are probably doing 2 night so they can try to hurt go ventures. the hard promoters are not from los angeles. they are trying to make their mark out here and doing so by taking on the most established party crew in LA. they will fail just like the rest. look at what happened back in teh day when insomiac used to battle against go ventures… insomniac lost. better that they merged for new years and now we have together as one. nobody has one a battle against go ventures. even giant failed and gave up trying to compete. the outcome as i predict, the hard promoters will give up on throwing events in direct competition as go ventures.
all i gota say, BASSMENT JAXX!!!! (and in little writing…. Dj Set) LAUGH!
if youre going to do something, do it right. get the f7ck outa here hard!
i just came across the monster massive event map the main stage is outside ITS GONNA BE SICK
Hahah waaack I barely came across this. You guys are straight hating on Hard Festival. Why would you even post something like this ? Are you guys scared of a little competition…? Well if your hating on it…I guess you are. Sorry to say…but ravers…and so called hipsters aren’t the same shit. Both do drugs…both do stupid shit. I’m not picking sides….I just hate haters….and you guys are definitely hating! Who gives a fuck if last yr HARD had its problems…why would you want to point it out? trying to steal crowds ? or is a a way for you guys to make it seem like you’ll have a better time at Monster massive. If you guys want someone talking shit. Your flyers are shitty. No sort of artistic shit. Hard has shitty flyers too. Newer artist…and besides….talking about newbees trying to become at tiesto level ? is that the dj you’d really want to go see? all hype ? c’mon the world’s best dj ? my ass! you know that, i know that…and a bunch of other people sure know that.!
Thanks for your comments. If you think that it’s hating, then that’s your opinion…It’s the truth for me.
I don’t understand why you refer to my blog to refer to stealing crowds? Do you actually think I work for Insomniac or something? I merely enjoy their events better because they produce more professional events which in turn creates a better experience. Please do not assume such things if you are unfamiliar.
I still go to the HARD events, and yes they need work. But guess what, they’re pretty new and that’s expected. They need this sort of criticism to grow as a company–and trust me, that event at the Forum was a major disaster. When ever has an event gone awry like that…almost never–but hey I commend that HARD actually sent out refund checks to all the attendees because I really think no one was realistically expecting one.
Regardless, I respect that they are promoting the electronic community for new fans out there.
DAMN!!
So which one is better quality are the line-ups out yet?
I see there is a lot of Competition between you guys in L.A.
I couldn’t make it out to E.D.C 2010 in L.A. since I heard it was a better experience than ULTRA in Miami. So props out to Insomniac Events for making E.D.C 2010 a tease looks so fun just look at their at atmosphere ; ). Well anyways I want to go to one of these festivals HARD HAUNTED MANSION or MONSTER MASSIVE never heard of them or their promoters but some how I have heard of Insomniac Events since they have Ready Set Rave productions in Texas… Very Cool of them
Oh and guys please don’t forget the P.L.U.R
I agree E.D.C looks so Legit
